AC installation in Atlanta, designed for your home from the start

Free in-home estimates, ENERGY STAR cooling systems, 10-year warranty, and financing available. Same-week scheduling for most installations.

Not every home that needs air conditioning already has it. Older Atlanta homes, new additions, garage conversions, and new construction projects all present situations where the AC system has to be designed and installed from scratch. That is a fundamentally different job from replacing an existing unit. It requires calculating the cooling load, designing ductwork or choosing ductless equipment, verifying the electrical panel can support the system, and making sure the installation meets local code.

B. Tucker Heating & Air handles AC installations across metro Atlanta with free estimates, a 10-year warranty on installed equipment, and financing options that fit your budget.

What we install and when a new system makes sense

An AC installation covers every scenario where cooling needs to be added to a space that does not currently have it, or where the existing system type is changing entirely.

Below are the most common situations we handle across metro Atlanta.

First-time central air conditioning

Many older Atlanta homes were built without central air or rely on window units. Installing central AC in these homes involves more than just placing equipment. The home needs ductwork designed and routed, a properly sized outdoor unit, an indoor air handler or evaporator coil, and an electrical panel that can handle the load. We assess the full scope during the estimate so there are no surprises.

Additions and new spaces

A finished basement, a sunroom, a second-story addition, or an in-law suite each adds square footage that the existing AC system was never designed to handle. Depending on the layout and the capacity of the existing system, the solution might be extending the current ductwork, adding a supplemental ductless unit, or designing an independent system for the new space.

New construction

Building a new home means the AC system can be designed alongside the house itself. We work with homeowners and builders during the construction phase to size the equipment, design the duct layout, and select equipment that matches the home's insulation, window package, and floor plan. Getting involved early avoids the compromises that come from retrofitting.

Ductless mini-split installations

Ductless mini-splits provide efficient cooling (and heating) to individual rooms or zones without ductwork. They are a practical solution for spaces where running new ducts is impractical or cost-prohibitive, including older homes, above-garage rooms, enclosed porches, and detached buildings like workshops or pool houses. The U.S. Department of Energy notes that ductless systems avoid the energy losses associated with ductwork, which can account for significant waste in homes with ducts running through unconditioned spaces.

System type conversions

Some homeowners want to switch from a heat pump to a dedicated AC with a separate furnace, or from an older single-stage system to a variable-speed system with better humidity control. Each conversion involves different infrastructure considerations. We evaluate the existing setup and design the new installation around what the home actually needs.

Zoned cooling installations

A zoned system uses motorized dampers to direct cooled air to different parts of the home independently. If your home has consistent hot spots upstairs or rooms that never cool down, zoning solves the problem at the system level rather than through thermostat adjustments. We design and install zoned systems from scratch, including dampers, zone boards, and individual thermostats.

Why homeowners across Atlanta choose B. Tucker

An AC installation is only as good as the planning and execution behind it. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, air conditioning accounted for 27% of home energy expenditures in the hot-humid region of the country. In that context, a system that is undersized, oversized, or installed with leaky ductwork costs you money every month it runs. We size every system using Manual J load calculations and install to manufacturer spec and local code.

What you get with B. Tucker:

  • Free in-home estimates. We evaluate your home, calculate the cooling load, and present 2 or 3 equipment options with financing laid out.

  • Manual J load calculations. Every installation is sized to the actual thermal load of the space.

  • ENERGY STAR equipment. Lower utility bills, eligible for federal tax credits and utility rebates where applicable.

  • Financing options. Approved financing available so timing does not have to drive the decision.

  • 10-year warranty. On parts and equipment for installed systems, backed by manufacturer warranties.
  • Code-compliant workmanship. We pull permits where required and install to manufacturer spec.

Our 3-step process

An AC installation involves more planning than a standard replacement. Here is how a B. Tucker installation works from start to finish.

1

Free in-home assessment

A technician visits your home, measures the space, evaluates the existing infrastructure (ductwork, electrical panel, structural access), and runs a Manual J load calculation. For new construction, we coordinate with your builder or general contractor. You receive a written estimate with 2 or 3 equipment options at different efficiency tiers, including financing and rebate math.

2

Design and install

Once you approve the proposal, we schedule the work. A single-zone installation in an existing home typically takes one to two days. Installations that involve new ductwork, multi-zone systems, or new-construction projects may take two to three days. We pull all required permits, protect your floors and finishes, and install to manufacturer spec and local building code.

3

Commissioning and walkthrough

Before the crew leaves, the lead installer commissions the system: checks refrigerant charge, measures airflow at every register, verifies thermostat communication, and confirms the system cycles and dehumidifies correctly. We walk you through the new equipment, the maintenance schedule, the warranty terms, and what to expect during the first full cooling season.
