Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Are there any areas in you home (or office) that get too warm or cold?
A: There is a solution.  It[s called Zoning and B. Tucker Heating and Air installs it!  It's much less expensive than you think and can be done is a short time using HONEYWELL zone controls and digital thermostats.  It's too much to expect one thermostat provide perfect conditions for every room your home.  What's comfortable for your bedroom may be uncomfortable for the living room or the kitchen.  Zoning also allows you to leave unoccupied area without heating or cooling saving you more money on energy costs.  A home not zoned is uncomfortable and costs you more in heating and cooling costs.  Why should you sacrifice money?  Spend more money and waste energy?  You no longer have to!  Let B. tucker install Zoning in your home today.

Q: Does your home (or office) get too muggy or too dry certain times of the year?
A: An APRILAIRE humidifier or HONEYWELL dehumidifier installed by B. Tucker Heating and Air may be the answer.  When it comes to the comfort of your indoor air, it isn't always just the temperature that matters.  For many families, a whole home humidifier not only provides the right amount of moisture for total comfort, it can also help to keep irritating air-borne particles from circulating as easily.  When it comes to feeling comfortable throughout your home, the old saying, "It's not the heat-it's the humidity" is very true.  Other than ambient temperature, nothing affects a body's perception of comfort more then humidity; usually between 30-60%.  There are several types of humidifiers and dehumidifiers available and B. Tucker HVAC can help you decide which one best suits your needs.

Q: Is your existing system noisy?
A: There can be several sounds associated with a noisy system,  You may hear humming, knocking, or cracking.  These noises don't necessarily mean you need to replace your system, but you should call B. Tucker Heating & Air to checkout all of the various components.  Regular maintenance is the best way to keep your system in tip-top shape.  changing your filters at least twice a year and keeping the inner workings of your system clean are essential to the long life and efficient operation of your equipment.  B. Tucker Heating and Air offers a Planned Maintenance Agreement with many options to fit your exact needs.

Q: Does anyone in your home suffer from asthma or allergies?
A: There are many kinds of filters available on the market today.  A standard filter made from fiberglass will remove about 40% of the debris that move through your system,  A direct replacement, pleated filter will remove about 80% of the debris.  A TRANE, CARRIER or HONEYWELL media filter installed in a special cabinet will remove about 92% of the debris, while a super efficient media filter, such as the Trane Clean Effects or the Carrier Infinity Air Cleaner will remove over 99%.  Ultraviolet light devices can be installed with a media filter to kill bacteria that is not captured by the filter.

Energy Saving Tips

  • Clean supply registers, baseboard heaters, and radiators as needed; make sure they're not blocked by furniture, carpeting, or drapes.
  • Use fans during the summer to create a wind chill effect that will make your hoe more comfortable.  If you use air conditioning, a ceiling fan will allow you to raise the thermostat setting about 4˚F with no reduction in comfort.
  • Turn off kitchen, bath and other venting fans within 20 minutes after you are done cooking or bathing to retain heater or cooled air.
  • Install a programmable thermostat to adjust the temperature according to your schedule.
  • Heating and cooling can account for almost half of the average family's energy bill.  Make sure your equipment receives professional maintenance each year.
  • Don't place lamps or TV sets near your thermostat.  It senses heat from these appliances, which can cause your system to run longer than necessary
  • Keep in mind that insulation and sealing air leaks will help keep your energy performance in the summertime by keeping the cool air inside
